General problems of circuit breaker tester

Routine problems and treatment of circuit breaker tester

(1) The switch does not act during closing and opening operations

(1) Incorrect wiring of on-site closing and opening control or control loop problems

Solution: Find the control wiring diagram of the on-site control cabinet, and ask the relevant protection professionals to find out the closing and opening coils and the auxiliary contacts of the switch respectively. During the test, the DC power supply must be normal, otherwise the short-circuit area will not operate.

2. The output is short-circuited or the load is too large, please shut down and check the control wiring

(1) The control wiring is wrong, which causes the output of the instrument to be short-circuited, and the short-circuit protection function is activated.

For the switch of the electromagnetic mechanism, the drive current required by the switch closing coil is very large (up to 100A or several hundred amperes), and the maximum load capacity of the operating power supply of the instrument is 20A, which causes the load to be too large and the instrument cannot be driven normally.

In the scene, the closing control line is generally connected to the closing contactor coil of the previous stage of the closing coil, and the instrument is used to control the closing of the switch contactor, and the contactor is used to drive the switch closing coil to make the switch act or use “external triggering” “The operation switch is closed.

(2) For hydraulic and spring mechanism switches, since the instrument defaults to “overload” when the output current is greater than 6A, please take a look or use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the closing coil to confirm the closing coil current If it is larger, please check the wiring carefully, confirm that the closing output is not short-circuited, and cancel the short-circuit protection function of the tester to test. (Note: After the short-circuit protection function of the instrument is cancelled, the output of “closed and open control power supply” will not have the protection function. If the control power output is indeed short-circuited at this time, it may cause damage to the control power supply of the instrument! Please operate with caution! )

Specific method: Shut down and hold down the button, turn it on until the “release button” screen prompt appears, release the button, the short-circuit protection function is cancelled, and the short-circuit protection function is restarted as long as the instrument is turned off or reset.

(3) Check whether the operating power supply of the instrument has a DC output

Use a multimeter to check the voltage of the operating power provided inside the instrument. If the voltage output is normal, perform other checks. If there is no voltage output, it may be that the fuse on the operating control line is burned or the control line is damaged. Replace with a new fuse Ready to use,

(4) The internal power supply of the instrument is damaged

Solution: use the on-site switch cabinet to operate the power supply, and use the “external trigger” method to operate, and the switch mechanism has a protection lock (such as Siemens, ABB switches)

Solution: Use the internal power supply provided by the instrument to operate the switch for closing and opening tests, and the lock must be released. Please on-site technicians or switch manufacturer personnel to assist in releasing the lock according to the control wiring diagram of the on-site control cabinet.

Use the on-site power supply and use the “external trigger” method to test.

(2) When the instrument is doing single-on and single-point tests, the switch is activated and no data is displayed

(1) The ground wire is not completely connected, check whether it is floating or missing;

(2) The resistance of the closing coil or the opening coil is too large, so that the load is too small (generally, when the coil current is less than 1A, this situation is likely to occur), which makes the instrument trigger in advance and no data is collected. In this case, it is generally recommended The user cancels the short-circuit protection function and re-tests.

(3) If data is not output during closing, the closing control circuit is damaged. If no data is output during opening, the opening control circuit is damaged. The solution is generally to connect the opening control wires (green and black wires) to the closing coil. , Use the opening control to operate the switch closing test process.
