Protection function of series resonance

Before use, power cables need to undergo a series resonance test, and the series resonance test bench has corresponding protection functions. Taking HV Hipot Electric Co., Ltd. company’s series resonance test bench as an example, we will briefly introduce the protection functions of the series resonance test bench.  

Flashover protection: When the tested product discharges and breaks down, the output voltage is quickly cut off, and the power supply is disconnected. The high-voltage circuit load is released through the intermediate boosting transformer, and overvoltage will not affect other equipment. The console screen displays “Flashover Fault”.  

Overvoltage protection: This device can adjust the test voltage to prevent it from rising due to external reasons. When the test voltage exceeds the set value, the console will automatically cut off the power and display “voltage fault” on the screen.  

Overcurrent protection: Short circuit occurs during testing. The controller box can quickly cut off the power and display a “current fault” prompt on the screen.  

Internal protection of the device: When the device inside the device is damaged, the thyristor can be quickly turned off on the DC circuit to cut off the DC power supply, and then cut off the AC power supply to prevent the fault from expanding.  

Quick disconnect protection: When a short circuit occurs in the control circuit, the main power switch is an air switch with speed disconnect function, which can cut off the fault.

Switch zero protection: When the control box is started, the output terminal always remains at zero, with no pulse signal or voltage output. When approaching the test voltage (usually 90% of the test voltage), it is forbidden to adjust the inductance to prevent the excessive voltage generated during inductance adjustment from causing damage to the subjects.  

Overload protection: When the output current exceeds the set value, the control box automatically shuts off the output. This is a reminder.  

Power outage protection: When the power supply suddenly loses power, the system can use the remaining power in the circuit to promptly turn off the output signal, ensuring the safe shutdown of the system.  

Disharmony protection: When the internal defects of the test product cause changes in the parameters of the testing system, causing the testing system to become detuned, the console automatically shuts off the output.  

Seismic protection during transportation: Vibration resistant disc springs are used at the bottom of the control box to cushion vibrations caused by uneven road surfaces.  

The protection function of the series resonance testing device can effectively protect the safety issues of the equipment during operation, but in practical work, it is still necessary to master the testing methods proficiently and strictly follow the instructions for testing!
