Methods for partial discharge detection

The specialized production of partial discharge testers for HV Hipot Electric Co., Ltd. power can help many power workers conduct various power tests more conveniently.

Next, we will share with you the methods for detecting partial discharge.

1、 Ultrasonic examination

Ultrasonic testing detects the position and distance of PD by listening to sound, achieving monitoring of PD. It is one of the methods in the field of preventive maintenance. Ultrasonic detection method is widely used for partial discharge localization due to its low electrical interference.

2、 Chemical testing

Chemical testing refers to the decomposition of various insulation materials and the production of new products when partial discharge occurs in transformers. By detecting the composition and concentration of the product, the state of partial discharge can be determined. At present, chemical detection methods have been widely used in online fault diagnosis of transformers. The types and degrees of faults vary, and the composition and concentration of gases also differ. Therefore, pattern recognition systems can achieve automatic identification of faults. But so far, there is no unified standard for judgment. Because it is sensitive to detecting early potential faults, but cannot reflect sudden faults.

3、 High frequency partial discharge detection

Traditional detection methods have some shortcomings, leading to the emergence of a new detection method, high-frequency detection. The high-frequency (300-3000MHz) electrical signal generated by partial discharge of transformers is used to detect and locate partial insulation discharge of power transformers, and to achieve anti-interference.
