DC high voltage generator no-load boost test

The DC high-voltage generator is an instrument that provides a high-voltage DC series resonance. Before using the instrument, the instrument must be grounded reliably. The staff who use the DC high-voltage generator must be professionals with a “high-voltage test certificate”. When using the DC high voltage generator, the user must comply with the provisions of the “Electrical Safety Work Regulations”, and install two obvious disconnect points before the working power enters the tester. When replacing the test product and wiring, the two power disconnect points should be clearly disconnected first, and at least three workers must be ensured on site, so as to effectively ensure the safety of users.

The indicator lights, switches, meters, knobs, etc. on the main unit have been clearly marked. Please refer to when reading the operation manual.

1. The function description of the host panel.

The fHV Hipot Electric Co., Ltd.-core aviation socket on the side of the pressure doubler base is a special socket for connecting to the host, and the ground terminal on the side is for connecting the ground wire.

The attached high-voltage shielded ammeter is a digital micro-ampere meter. The jack on the top of the meter is the line jack for connecting the tested product, and it also serves as a power control switch. Please unplug it when not in use. When replacing the battery, please remove the screws at both ends of the meter head, and then remove the back cover. After replacing the battery, please tighten the back cover with screws.

2. Preparation before use

Step 1: Check the integrity of the instrument before use. There should be no open circuit and short circuit in each connecting line, and the equipment should not be broken.

Step 2: Put the host and the pressure doubler in a suitable position, and connect the power cord, special fHV Hipot Electric Co., Ltd.-core connecting wire and grounding wire respectively. The ground wire of the host, the ground wire of the pressure doubler, and the ground wire of the discharge rod should be connected to the ground wire of the tested product separately (ie, ground at one point). It is strictly forbidden for the grounding wires to be connected in series with each other, and the special grounding wire equipped with the instrument should be used.

The third step: put the power switch in the off position and turn the voltage adjustment potentiometer counterclockwise to the zero position. The overvoltage protection setting value is generally 1.1 times the test voltage.

Step 4: Before turning on the power switch on the panel of the control box, make sure that the DC high-voltage generator is connected to the 220V AC power supply, carefully check whether the wiring is correct, and also check whether the grounding wire of the high-voltage discharge rod is reliable.

3. No-load boost test and verify voltage protection setting value

Step 1: Connect the single-phase AC220V power supply, turn on the power switch, and the red light is on at this time, indicating that the power is on.

Step 2: Press the green button, the green light will be on, indicating that the high voltage is connected.

Step 3: Slowly adjust the voltage adjustment potentiometer clockwise, the output terminal will start to boost from zero, the value displayed by the host voltmeter is the boosted voltage value, and when the voltage is slowly boosted to close to the overvoltage protection setting value, record the voltage Meter reading, and verify whether the recorded value is 1.1 times the voltage setting value, and check whether the host and the high-voltage output line have abnormal phenomena and sounds.

Step 4: Step down, after returning the voltage regulating potentiometer to zero, press the red button to cut off the high voltage output and turn off the power switch.

For small capacitors tested such as zinc oxide arresters, it is generally discharged through the internal voltage divider resistor. For large-capacitance test objects such as cables, it is generally necessary to wait for the voltage of the test object to self-discharge to less than 20% of the test voltage, and then discharge through the matching discharge rod. After the test object is fully discharged, hang the ground wire to the high-voltage output terminal, and then allow the removal of the high-voltage lead and the replacement of the wiring.

During use, it is found that the red light is on and the green light is off, indicating that there is a protection action and the high voltage is disconnected. At this time, the following steps can be performed:

 1. Return the voltage regulating potentiometer to the zero position;

 2. Turn off the power switch;

 3. After waiting for one minute, after the low-voltage capacitor inside the instrument is fully discharged, turn on the power switch again, perform the no-load test again, and check the situation, and then test the test object again.

Notice:

 1. When doing any test, be sure to follow 3.2 Preparation before use → 3.3 No-load boost test and verify the voltage protection setting value → 3.4 Leakage and DC withstand voltage test procedures.

 2. When performing capacitive load test, be sure to connect the current limiting resistor.

 3. Use an external high voltage divider to compare the voltage on the host if necessary.

 4. Any removal and replacement of the high-voltage output end should be carried out in strict accordance with the sixth step.
