The problem of series resonant circuit

In a series RLC circuit operating above the resonant frequency,

electric current

A. Lagging behind the applied voltage

B. Ahead of the applied voltage

C. In phase with the applied voltage

D. For zero

Capacitive reactance and inductive reactance are equivalent during resonance. The inductive reactance will be stronger than the capacitive reactance above the resonant frequency. Therefore, RLC circuits operating above their resonant frequency act as pure inductive circuits. In this circuit, the phase difference between current and voltage will be the same as in an inductive circuit.

The capacitance is given by X C=1/w C

Sensory resistance is given by X L=wL

During resonance, X L = X C

w L = 1/w C

But the frequency is higher than the resonance frequency, X L > X C

As a result, at frequencies higher than the resonant frequency, the circuit behaves as an induction circuit, with current lagging behind voltage.
