Types and measurements of resonance tests

High voltage withstand test is an important means to prevent safety accidents during the manufacturing, maintenance, or operation of electrical equipment, and is of great significance for the safe operation of power systems.  

This article will introduce the types and measurements of series resonance test devices

(1) Insulation tests for coil equipment: insulation resistance, absorption ratio (polarization index) test, leakage current test, dielectric loss tangent tan δ test, external power frequency withstand voltage test, induction withstand voltage test, partial discharge test.

(2) Switch equipment testing: insulation resistance test, leakage current test, dielectric loss tangent tan δ test, circuit breaker, GIS circuit resistance test, circuit breaker, GIS withstand voltage test, GIS partial discharge test.  

(3) Characteristic tests for coil equipment: ratio, polarity and wiring group tests, DC resistance tests, no-load and short-circuit characteristic tests, zero sequence impedance tests, tap changer tests, winding deformation tests, excitation characteristic tests.  

(4) Insulator and bushing tests: insulation resistance test, bushing dielectric loss tangent tan δ and capacitance test, AC withstand voltage test, bushing partial discharge test.

(5) Capacitor test: insulation resistance test, capacitance test, dielectric loss tangent tan δ test, AC withstand voltage test.  

(6) Lightning arrester test: insulation resistance test, conductivity current test, power frequency discharge voltage test, discharge counter test, leakage current test under DC 1mA voltage (U1mA) and 0.75U1mA, AC leakage current test under operating voltage, power frequency reference voltage test under power frequency reference current.  

(7) Grounding device test: Grounding resistance test, grounding down conductor and grounding grid conductivity test, soil resistivity test, contact voltage, step voltage and potential distribution test.  

(8) Overhead line and cable testing: insulation resistance testing, phase verification, AC (DC) withstand voltage and DC leakage testing of cables, power frequency parameter testing of overhead lines and cable lines, capacitance current testing.

(9) Common electrical insulation tool testing: insulation tool testing, protective tool testing.

Preconditions for conducting high-voltage tests

(1) The newly installed equipment to be tested should comply with the process and technical requirements specified in the installation guidelines of Xuguan and pass the acceptance inspection.

(2) Equipment that has passed the high-voltage test is not allowed to undergo any work that may affect its operational performance while waiting to be put into operation. Therefore, the tested equipment must be put into operation in the short term.

(3) The surrounding environment of the test equipment should have preliminary operating conditions and cannot be damaged by civil engineering and other work.

(4) For motors and transformers that are severely affected by moisture, they must be dried before testing.
