Specific Roles and Functions of motor test benches

The motor test bench under HV Hipot Electric Co., Ltd. power can help many power workers conduct various power tests more conveniently.

Specific Roles and Functions

Modern motor test benches (especially for new energy drive motors) typically perform the following specific functions:

1.Precise Parameter Measurement:

Electrical Parameters: Voltage, current, power (input/output), efficiency, power factor, harmonics, etc.

Mechanical Parameters: Speed, torque (dynamic and static), power (mechanical output).

Thermal Parameters: Motor winding temperature, housing temperature, coolant inlet/outlet temperature, etc.

Control Parameters: Response to controller (MCU) commands, CAN bus communication messages, etc.

2.Characteristic Curve Mapping:

MAP Chart (Efficiency Map): One of the core outputs of motor testing.
It comprehensively displays the efficiency distribution of the motor at different speeds and torques, serving as key evidence for evaluating motor economy (e.g., electric vehicle range).

Torque-Speed Curve (T-N Curve): Displays the motor’s output capability range, including constant torque and constant power zones.

Performance Curves: Such as efficiency curves, power curves, etc.

3.Operating Condition Simulation and Endurance Testing:

Simulate real loads, such as vehicle operating conditions under different road conditions (e.g., climbing, acceleration, cruising).

Perform predefined endurance cycle tests (e.g., full-load cycles, thermal shock cycles) to accelerate motor aging and evaluate its lifespan and reliability.

4.Functional Testing:

Controller (MCU) Matching Test: Verify the
of the motor and controller, including response speed, control accuracy, regenerative braking function, etc.

Fault Diagnosis and Protection Testing: Actively inject faults (e.g., overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, overheating, short circuit, Hall sensor failure) to test whether the motor system’s diagnostic and protection functions are triggered correctly.

5.NVH Testing (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness):

Equipped with high-precision sensors to analyze the series resonances of vibration and noise under different operating conditions, providing data for optimizing the motor’s NVH performance.
