Requirements for 10kV cable withstand voltage test

HV Hipot Electric Co., Ltd. specializes in producing series resonance (also known as cable withstand voltage testing equipment). Next, we will share with you the requirements for 10kV cable withstand voltage testing.

1.  The DC withstand voltage test voltage for 10kV cable is 40kV.

2.  The DC voltage test of the cable is 4 times the rated voltage for 1 minute. AC power withstand voltage test is a destructive test. The voltage is 2.5 times the rated voltage and the time is 1 minute.  

3. Puncture test is one of the main methods for checking the ability of electrical equipment, electrical devices, circuits, and electrical safety equipment to withstand overvoltage. There are two types of cables: power frequency voltage testing and cable DC voltage testing.  

4. The test voltage for the power frequency withstand voltage test of the cable is greater than one to several times the rated voltage of the tested equipment, and not less than 1000V. The pressurization time is 1 minute for equipment mainly insulated with ceramics and liquids, 5 minutes for equipment mainly insulated with organic solids, 3 minutes for transformers, and 10 minutes for oil immersed power cables.  

5. Cable DC voltage testing can be conducted by measuring the leakage current values at different test voltages and drawing the leakage current voltage characteristic curve. After the withstand voltage test, local defects, moisture and insulation aging will be found in the electrical equipment.
