HV Hipot Electric Co., Ltd. specializes in producing series resonance (also known as variable frequency resonance test device). Next, we will share with you the composition and advantages of the variable frequency resonance test device.
Variable frequency power supply: It converts a 220V/380V, 50HZ power supply into a frequency adjustable, voltage continuously adjustable, and integrates operation, protection, control, and monitoring functions.
Reactor: Connected in series with a capacitive test sample to form an LC series resonant circuit
Excitation transformer: boosts the voltage output from the variable frequency power supply while isolating high and low voltage.
Capacitive voltage divider: measures the high voltage and low voltage values on the test sample, and feeds them back as sampling signals to the frequency modulation power supply.
Compensation capacitor: compensates for small capacitance of the test sample and adjusts the frequency of the test sample.
The advantages of series resonance: In general, the inductance and capacitance of the circuit are much greater than the resistance component, so the voltage on the capacitor (test sample) and inductor is much higher than the power supply voltage. Therefore, series resonance is also known as voltage resonance. Its voltage value is XC/R (XL/R) times the power supply voltage. This ratio is often used in engineering to characterize the performance of resonant circuits, and is referred to as the quality factor of series circuits, represented by Q. It is a dimensionless quantity determined by the circuit parameters R, L, and C.
It is precisely because of the existence of Q value that a large test capacity can be obtained with a small excitation capacity and power supply capacity when using series resonance test. A higher test voltage can be obtained from a lower excitation voltage, thus completing the test of large capacity samples that are difficult to complete using test transformers. This is the biggest advantage of series resonance.
