1、 Advantages of series resonance:
Under normal circumstances, the inductance and capacitance of the circuit are much greater than the resistance component, so the voltage on the capacitor (test sample) and inductor is much higher than the power supply voltage. Therefore, series resonance is also known as voltage resonance. Its voltage value is XC/R (XL/R) times the power supply voltage. This ratio is often used in engineering to characterize the performance of resonant circuits, and is referred to as the quality factor of series circuits, represented by Q.
It is precisely because of the existence of Q value that a large test capacity can be obtained with a small excitation capacity and power supply capacity when using series resonance test. A higher test voltage can be obtained from a lower excitation voltage, thus completing the test of large capacity samples that are difficult to complete using test transformers. This is the biggest advantage of series resonance.
2、 Application of Frequency Conversion Series Resonance
Based on the principle of resonance, a variable frequency series resonance test device has been developed, which is widely used for AC withstand voltage testing of large capacity specimens such as transformers, cables, generators, GIS, etc. This set of equipment consists of a variable frequency power supply, excitation transformer, reactor, and voltage divider, and can be customized according to the situation of the tested object on site.
Variable frequency power supply: controls test voltage, time, etc., and outputs voltage at a specified frequency
Voltage divider: monitoring actual voltage
Excitation transformer: Increases the output voltage of the variable frequency power supply to increase the voltage of the system
Reactor: provides inductance for the system and resonance conditions for the system
